At Max Saket, we are equipped with the latest technology to treat Liver Cancer. Our multidisciplinary team of Interventional Radiologists, Liver Surgeons, Medical Hepatologists and Oncologists make sure that you get the best possible treatment.
Our promise is that we will stand with you in this fight against the cancer.
RFA (Radio Frequency Ablation): It is a minimally invasive targeted treatment suitable for small lesions with size under 3 cm. A thin metal needle is inserted through skin and guided to hit the tumor directly. The needle produces heat at its tip which kills the tumor.
MWA (Microwave ablation): MWA is suitable for lesion sizes upto 5 cm. The principle is similar to RFA except electromagnetic waves (microwaves) produce the heat to kill the tumor.
TACE (Trans Arterial Chemo Embolisation): It is an angiographic procedure and is suitable for larger lesions. A catheter is used to inject embolic medicine laced with chemotherapy drugs directly into the tumor. The advantage is the precise delivery of medicine into the cancer and sparing of the rest of the liver from the therapy.
TARE (Trans Arterial Radio Embolisation): This is similar to TACE except that Yttrium-90 particles (not chemotherapy) is injected through the catheter directly into the cancerous area. These Y-90 particles emit radiation that kill the cancer cells in their vicinity.
The exact procedure details can vary from patient to patient. What is best for you should be discussed with your doctor.
